Accounting Internship Program
Mildrid Esua, CPA offers an initial internship opportunity to qualified students who would like experience working in a full-service accounting firm. Internships are open to students who have strong academic credentials and a desire to work in public accounting.
The internship would be part time, approximately 20 hours a week, and duties include Small Business Accounting using Accounting CS Online, Tax Code Research using Checkpoint, The NC Dept of Taxation, the IRS Practitioner’s Hotline and other resources, assisting staff with tax and materials preparation, basic tax preparation and basic office support. Interns will also be invited to participate in other Mildrid Esua CPA business functions, such as our weekly training meetings, and Nonprofit Committee Meetings client meetings.
Who:
This internship is best suited for seniors, first and second year master’s students majoring in accounting or a related field looking for an initial, part-time internship at a boutique public CPA firm. Applicants will be directly involved in public accounting activities including tax research, preparation, write-up and more. This is a Paid internship.

Data Entry Clerk
This is a great opportunity to get hands on, practical experience in the public accounting world.
Job Functions:
- Answer phone, schedule client appointments.
- Assist with contacting clients to pick up information via phone, emails and prepare
mailings to clients.
- Data entry assistance for our staff accountants for various client accounts.
- Depending on experience, possible opportunities to help with reconciling client
accounts.
- Other special assignments as needed.
Requirements:

Accountant
As a member of Mildrid Esua, CPA Client Accounting Services team, your skills will be challenged while providing customized accounting services to our high net worth individual and middle market business clients. Through the development of productive working relationships with clients and co-workers, you will gain understanding of client business operations and procedures. The ideal candidate must have 3-7 years of full charge bookkeeping experience, preferably in a CPA firm environment. Experience with Accounting cs, Microsoft Office Suite, Ultra tax cs software, and Checkpoint is a plus.

Produce journal entries and perform the month end close under minimal supervision
Manage schedules for monthly payments and capital lease
Compose thorough journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Thorough experience with month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

Executive Assistant for CPA Firm Tax Partner
The Executive Assistant reports directly to the Firm Administrator and works closely with the Tax Partner to ensure the smooth operation of client management. Responsibilities include preparing reports, billing, assembling tax returns, screening calls and scheduling appointments. This position requires strong verbal, written, and computer skills. Senior Audit Associate – Government Contracting Industry
Mildrid Esua, CPA has an immediate opening for a Senior Associate to join the Government Contracting Services team. Our professionals in this team apply extensive industry knowledge in their delivery of efficient and effective assurance and tax services to some of the largest and most dynamic organizations in the area.
Responsibilities:
Perform financial statement audits and reviews
Serve as the principal point of contact on client engagements and develop working relationships with senior level management and business owners
Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve audit-related problems, and collaborate with managers and partners to make recommendations for business and process improvements
Takes responsibility, executes and follows through on timely completion of engagement deliverables from planning to completion
Supervise and mentor junior staff members on engagements and review workpapers

This position is for a manager with 6 plus years of public accounting specializing in tax. CPA is required, with an M.S. in Taxation preferred. The candidate must have experience reviewing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S and C corporations, nonprofits, trusts and work papers using UltraTax CS Tax and Engagement. Must have an ability to develop and manage detailed budgets and delivery timelines, analyze complex tax situations, and conduct tax research as well as communicate with clients and effectively manage team members.
